The Merv Griffin Show (1969)

Synopsis
Emmy-nominated fare from the showbiz giant (and former band singer) with the mild persona, who, though unable to knock Johnny Carson off his late-night throne when he went to CBS in '69, made a fortune developing 'Jeopardy!' and 'Wheel of Fortune.' His own talk shows (he had several) were better than most, and Griffin often had interesting guests willing to present controversial views (including criticism of the Vietnam War), and cutting-edge comics such as Richard Pryor.
