Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Betty White makes her first appearance as TV personality Sue Ann Nivens, "The Happy Homemaker," in this third-season opener of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Upon finding out that her "perfect" (and never-seen) husband Lars is cheating on her, Phyllis Lindstrom (Cloris Leachman) is shocked to further discover that her rival is none other than the deceptively sweet and syrupy Sue Ann. An unforgettable showdown in the Happy Homemaker's TV-studio kitchen is resolved by some quick thinking -- and a surprising volley of vitriol -- from Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore). Cloris Leachman won an Emmy award for her work in "The Lars Affair," which originally aired on September 15, 1973.
