Synopsis by Hal Erickson
News writer Murray Slaughter (Gavin MacLeod) is upset by the ridiculous policy decisions and cost-cutting strategies of WJM-TV's new station manager. But when Murray's favorite movie is sliced up by the station to make room for dozens of commercials, it's the last straw. Picking up his phone, Murray dials up the new manager and tells him off -- and is immediately fired for his troubles. Highlights of this bittersweet episode includes the care package prepared by Sue Ann (Betty White) for the impoverished Slaughter family. "Murray Takes a Stand" was first telecast on January 31, 1976.
