Synopsis by Hal Erickson

In the series' only fantasy episode, the inebriated trio of Lou (Ed Asner), Ted (Ted Knight), and Murray (Gavin MacLeod) each imagine what life would be like as the husband of Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore). The episode's most fascinating aspect is the manner in which Mary's personality is "re-molded" by each of the fantasizers -- devoted domestic for Murray, sex-starved newlywed for Ted, and a silver-haired granny for Lou's "golden anniversary." It is the sort of adventurous script that could only have emerged from the series' seventh and final season. "Mary's Three Husbands" originally aired on February 26, 1977.
