Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Now that he is separated from his wife, Lou (Edward Asner) feels it is time to re-enter the dating scene. To overcome his own shyness, Lou insists that Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) find him a date for an award banquet. Thanks to one of those mix-ups so common to TV sitcoms, Lou ends up escorting octogenarian Martha Dudley (Florence Lake), who'd once been "a flower girl at Thomas Edison's wedding." A brilliant blend of hilarity and poignancy, "Lou's First Date" originally aired on November 3, 1973.
