Synopsis by Hal Erickson
John Schuck guest stars as Frank Carelli, a washed-up pro football player now selling insurance door to door. Taking pity on poor old Frank, Mary (Mary Tyler Moore) takes it upon herself to build up his confidence. It turns out, however, that the manipulative Mr. Carelli has already hit upon the perfect confidence-builder-upper; he wants Mary to arrange for him to get a sportcaster's job at WJM-TV. Real-life pro footballer Timothy Brown appears as himself. "Keep Your Guard Up" made its network TV bow on October 17, 1970.
