Synopsis by Hal Erickson
When station management suggests that "The Six O'Clock News" hire a female co-anchor for Ted Baxter (Ted Knight), newsroom boss Lou Grant (Ed Asner) has a good idea of the sort of person needed for such a job. His qualifications are simple: The new anchorperson should be "someone like" Mary (Mary Tyler Moore). Summoning up her intestinal fortitude, Mary auditions for the job -- causing dissension in the ranks when "Happy Homemaker" Sue Ann (Betty White) also sets her cap for the position. "A Girl Like Mary" originally aired on December 14, 1974.
