With her new real estate agent's license in her hot little hand, Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) wastes no time in lining up prospective sales. Much to the dismay of Mary (Mary Tyler Moore), Phyllis shows up at the newsroom soliciting business. Things come to a pretty pass when Phyllis tries to persuade a very reluctant Lou Grant (Ed Asner) to sell his house, now that his wife Edie has moved out. Originally scheduled for airplay on January 5, 1974, "Cottage for Sale" was bumped up to January 12 of that same year.
