Synopsis by Nathan Southern

An homage to Johnny Cash, country music's self-proclaimed "Man in Black," the unique stage show preserved in this film interweaves renditions of classic Cash tunes performed by Tex Perkins and The Tennessee Four - including "Ring of Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues" and "I Walk the Line" - with the dramatized story of Cash's life and personal journey. The biographical portion of the show focuses most intently on Cash' s relationships with others, including his wife, June Carter Cash, and various prisoners touched by his music. It also conveys Cash's ability to surmount the daunting obstacles handed to him early in life, through sheer determination, force of will, and spiritual grace.
