Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
In this Chinese drama set during the 8th-century, the wicked brother of the emperor's favorite concubine is appointed prime minister. One day the concubine leaves followed by the emperor. The prime minister tells no one and eventually causes the court to leave. Meanwhile the greedy leader has refused to pay the devoted palace guards who revolt, kill him, and demand that the concubine die too. The find her taking care of their ailing emperor. She swears to them that as soon as he is well, she will kill herself. He heals and she does.
