Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale is brought to the screen again in this animated adaptation. Princess Lena is a beautiful mermaid who has grown tired of her life underwater and wonders about the people who live on dry land. Lena encounters handsome but landlocked Prince Stefan when she becomes caught in a whirlpool, and for her it's love at first sight; Lena decides she wants to join him on dry land, but in order to do that she must form an alliance with the wicked witch Cassandra. This version of The Little Mermaid is not to be confused with the popular adaptation released by Walt Disney Pictures in 1989.
