Iranian documentary filmmaker Mahmoud Shoolizadeh makes his feature film debut with the simple childhood drama Noora (The Kiss of Life). Set in the mountains of Northern rural Iran, the film concerns a little girl named Noora (Masoomeh Yoosefi) who lives with her parents, brother, and grandmother. After she gets paralyzed from the waist down in an accident, her family contemplates pooling their resources and taking her to the hospital in the next village. Feeling responsible for the accident, Noora's brother Niaz (Mohammed Abbasi) attempts to heal her through a spiritual quest. Noora was screened at the 2003 Taormina Film Festival.
