Set in a racially and economically diverse city neighborhood, the Kids of Degrassi Street series is famous for dealing with the real challenges involved with growing up. Stories are told from the kids' point of view, demonstrating the struggle in the choices they make. In this episode, Karen joins Pete's window-washing endeavor to earn money for roller skates, but she ends up getting the money for her birthday.
