Synopsis by Mark Deming

Can a man separate love, sex, and monogamy and not shoot himself in the process? That's the question posed by this comedy of manners. Jeffrey is a man whose life is seemingly just as he wants it to be; he has a successful career as a lawyer, and a happy marriage to a beautiful woman he loves. However, things are thrown off balance when Jeffrey's wife decides to put her focus back on her own career, and soon becomes obsessed with rising through the corporate ranks. With his spouse busy with work, Jeffrey starts to feel neglected, and thinks he's being shortchanged in the bedroom. Jeffrey's best friend urges him to have an affair, reasoning that a quick fling with no emotional attachments would help Jeffrey relax and make him less resentful of his wife's new ambitions. Jeffrey takes his advice, but it isn't long before he realizes he hasn't simplified his life, but made it a great deal more complicated.
