Helpful housekeeper Florence (Marla Gibbs) tries to save money on engraving the plaque of the Volunteer of the Year award, but the results are less than satisfactory. This sparks a noisy argument between Florence and Louise (Isabel Sanford), reaching a peak when Louise tells Florence that she's fired. Unfortunately this occurs just before Louise's husband, George (Sherman Hemsley), is to entertain guests from the Social Register -- and thus it is that George, of all people, must try to hire Florence back.
