Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

The appearance of a corpse brings Inspector Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) and Helen Clyde's (Lesley Vickerage) Mexican honeymoon crashing to a sudden halt in this installment of the popular series based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth George. When the locals learn that the murder victim is a young Asian man, the streets ignite with protests claiming police racism. As investigating officer Emily Barlow begins looking into the case, it appears that her personal beliefs have prevented her from remaining impartial, thus forcing Inspector Lynley to take charge over the investigation. When a strange check, a mysterious bracelet, and a covered-up pregnancy lead Inspector Havers into a world of twisted family loyalties and taboo sexuality, all evidence points to a suspect that Lynley himself could never have anticipated.
