As Episode Five of The Hurrican Express gets under way, Larry (John Wayne) and Gloria (Shirley Grey) manage to escape being blown up in a mine shaft. Now Larry is convinced that L&R railroad president Edwards (Tully Marshall) is himself the mysterious "Wrecker" who has not only been sabotaging the L&R but was also responsible for the death of Larry's father. What Larry doesn't know is that his trusted aide, "railroad detective" Frank (Edmund Breese) is actually Gloria's father, an escaped convict determined to wreak his own vengeance against Edwards and the L&R. When Larry finds out, he agrees to keep mum for Gloria's sake, and help Frank prove his innocence. But a runaway boxcar districts Larry's attention, forcing him to commandeer a motorcycle to prevent the boxcar's bound-and-gagged occupant from certain death.
