Bess O'Brien's documentary The Hungry Heart profiles Fred Holmes, a doctor in Vermont who often proscribes suboxone to his patients to help them manage their pain. However, he is aware that the drug is often mishandled and ends up being sold illegally on the street. Additionally, the filmmakers capture how Holmes takes a personal and deep interest in each of his patients.
