Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Inspired to create a team of paratrooper fighters as a result of their experiences with the Soviets, the German army began preparing their own paratrooper unit known as the "fallschirmjaeger" in 1935. First deployed in battle during Operation Weseruburg - the invasions of Denmark and Norway - in April of 1940, the "fallschirmjaeger" truly realized their power on the battlefield during Operation Merkur - the invasion of Crete - in 1941.
