Synopsis by Nathan Southern

The legendary Globe Theater in England mounted this 2011 stage production of William Shakespeare's history Henry IV, Part 2 (1596-99). The story, of course, finds King Henry IV dying, with the rebels showing no signs of surrender; meanwhile, the corpulent knight Sir John Falstaff leaves the local pub and begins to raise a militia to show support for Prince Hal - but it remains unclear if Hal will honor Falstaff with the life and comfort that the knight clearly deserves. This production stars Roger Allam as Falstaff and Jamie Parker as Hal. Allam won the Best Actor Olivier Award for his performance.
