Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on a book by American author/illustrator Alexander Key, the British children's series The Forgotten Door was a science fiction exercise with religious undertones. Though not an animated program, the series told its story with the use of illustrations, courtesy of Captain Pugwash creator John Ryan, and a cast of talented voice-over actors. Basically, the story concerned a young extraterrestrial, who, upon accidentally tumbling through a space portal, crash-landed on earth and lost his memory. As he tried to piece things together, the hero was alternately treated with kindness and cruelty by those with whom he came in contact, depending upon their perceptions of him< / I >, be they right or wrong. The seven 20-minute episodes of The Forgotten Door were telecast by ABC/ITV from October 9 to November 20, 1966.
