Thinking they've signed up for a contest, Fred and Barney end up in the army for a three-year hitch. Somehow or other they also "volunteer" as astronauts for the first guided-missile trip to the moon (quite an accomplishment for a pair of stoneagers). Voice actor Jerry Mann agains performs his Phil Silvers impersonation as (what else?) an army sergeant, and there's a cute verbal gag involving the international arms race: It seems that the slingshot has made the bow and arrow obsolete!
