A peaceful, hard-working farmer is almost hanged for a crime he didn't commit in this, the second version of Bret Harte's Tennessee's Pardner. Harry Carey starred as the farmer who inadvertently helps a condemned man escape the sheriff's posse. He is found guilty of aiding and abetting and is about to be hanged himself when the real criminal (James Mason) confesses. The story had been a success full play (written by Scott Marble) and was filmed by Lasky in 1916, but with a change in sex and starring Fannie Ward. John Payne starred in a 1955 remake directed by the veteran Allan Dwan.
