This odd Korean historical action film is dubbed in Mandarin and has both English and Chinese subtitles. The English subtitles are a source of considerable humor, as they are apparently composed by someone barely acquainted with the language. The story gives a behind-closed-doors look at the goings on in an ancient oriental palace, with swordfights, rapes and romance galore. Another amusing feature of the movie is its attempt to provide appropriate music to accompany scenes of castration, lesbian love, and miscarriage. Though the movie is gorgeously filmed, and includes spectacular footage of the Korean countryside, continuity seems to be skewed in a few places.
