Synopsis by Mark Deming
In the Carolinas, "beach music" means light, danceable R&B from the '50s and '60s, and since the early '70s, the Embers have been making it their business to keep the sound of beach music alive. The Embers: Live at the Sands is a video recording of the band's 2001 appearance at the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. The group plays a wide variety of favorite oldies, including "Under the Boardwalk," "Oh Girl," "Let's Have a Party," "My Girl," "Street Corner Serenade," "Cowboys to Girls," "Baby Workout," and 18 others.
