Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Mr. Alfred Burton (Kenelm Foss) is a humble cockney clerk. Too shy to speak up for himself, Burton is in danger of losing the love of his life, Ivy Duke (Edith Cowper). All this changes when he partakes of a handful of magic beans. Suddenly, Burton is transformed into a romantic, silver-tongued poet. How this plot device could have been successfully conveyed in a silent movie is anyone's guess. The Double Life of Mr. Alfred Burton is based on a novel by the incredibly prolific E. Phillips Oppenheim.
