"A Season of Heavenly Gifts" is an episode of the British TV sitcom Darling Buds of May. This time around, Pop Larkin, patriarch of a large and noisy brood, bails an old war buddy out of jail. This gesture of kindness gets the rest of the Larkin family-including son-in-law Charley Charleton, who'd originally shown up on the farm to audit Pop's taxes-in a smuggling operation. David Jason, Pam Ferris, Philip French and Catherine Zeta Jones star in this frenetic farce. The Darling Buds of May series was based on the comic novels by H. E. Bates, which also served as the inspiration for the American theatrical feature The Mating Game (1959).
