Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

Beneath the Skin -- Live in Paris 2 is the improved second edition of Irish rockers the Cranberries' concert video recorded live in Paris, France, in 1999. Presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and 16x9 enhanced, this updated version also offers a DTS audio track in addition to the Dolby Digital 5.1 track. The most marked improvement to note concerns the confusing interactive menus, which here have thankfully been cleaned up and are much easier to navigate. This disc also adds several high-quality bonus features. The inspired 25-minute "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee" documentary replaces the three on-the-road featurettes from the first disc. Additional music videos for "Analyze" and "Time Is Ticking Out" are included along with the previous disc's videos for "Animal Instinct," "Promises," and "Just My Imagination." Other upgraded special features include a DVD-ROM slide show, web links, interactive song lyrics, and an MP3 file for "Salvation." The rare live performances from the original disc ("Not Hollywood," "How," "Saving Grace," and "Yesterday's Gone") are still included here. All in all, this DVD is a definite improvement over the first-edition disc, but fans who appreciated the morphing album cover might want to hang on to the original.
