In 1967, a handful of musically inclined students at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama decided to form a band to have fun and meet girls. They called themselves the Commodores, and they accomplished a lot more than that, putting ten singles into the Billboard Top Ten and scoring three platinum albums. Despite the departure of Lionel Richie from the group in 1981, the Commodores never stopped making great music, and the group's core leaders -- Walter "Clyde" Orange, William "WAK" King, and James Dean "J.D." Nicholas -- are still taking the show on the road. The Commodores Live is a performance video recorded in 2001 that captures the fun and excitement of the current edition of the band on-stage.
