The Century: Events That Shaped the World is an excellent 12-part ABC News production hosted by Peter Jennings that explores the many events and personalities that colored the 20th century. Drawing from thousands of hours of archival footage as well as interviews, this series draws the viewer in with its compelling presentation. In Heaven and Earth: First Step, Jennings takes the viewer along on what can easily be considered the crowning moment in human history -- man's first steps on the moon. From the scientists whose vision and hard work allowed for space travel, to the astronauts who put their lives on the line for the sake of the mission, this documentary takes viewers inside mission control for a look at how this monumental bit of history came together.
