Synopsis by Mark Deming

Founded in 1964, The Cathedrals were one of the most beloved Southern gospel quartets of their times, winning four Grammy awards, two Dove awards, and placing a number of albums at the top of the Gospel charts. The Cathedrals' story came to a close in 1999 with the passing of group leader Glen Payne, but in this video, George Younce (who founded the group with Payne) and gospel star Bill Gaither (who often toured with The Cathedrals) look back at The Cathedrals' legacy of fine music with a Christian message. Includes archive footage of the group performing in their prime; selections include "This Old House", "Climbing Higher and Higher", "Movin' Up To Gloryland", and more.
