Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Based on a novel by John Goodwin, The Avenger stars Ralph Forbes as a district attorney who is imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. Upon his release, Forbes makes public his intention of settling matters with those who framed him. Shortly thereafter, the culprits disappear from view, and it seems as though they've been murdered. Forbes is fingered as the "trigger man," but his loyal ex-girlfriend Adrienne Ames uncovers the truth. Director Edwin L. Marin manages to keep the dialogue-heavy proceedings of The Avenger moving at a reasonably fast clip.
