Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Set almost entirely in New York, The Almighty Dollar focuses on Nan and Maisie Lorimer (June Elvidge, Frances Nelson), two orphaned girls. Keeping her promise to her dying mother, Nan, the older of the two girls, makes it her business to look after the welfare of madcap Maisie. The younger sister is dazzled by the attentions of a handsome and wealthy doctor (George Anderson, but Nan wisely perceives that the Doc is a bounder. The girls finally find happiness, if not financial security, as the wives of a pair of burly mining men (Maisie's hubby was played by top-billed E.K. Lincoln). The fact that "kid sister" Frances Nelson looked at least five years older than June Elvidge did not seem to faze the actress' many fans.
