Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Though Mae Murray had already formed a creative partnership with her husband, director Robert Z. Leonard, he went off to direct Marion Davies for a short period of time, and she made a couple of films -- including this one -- with Leonce Perret. While on a trip to the country, playwright Harry Bryant (Holmes E. Herbert) meets Kate (Murray), a young orphan girl in the first bloom of youth (Murray, it may be noted, was about 34 years old). Since she is homeless, he takes her to an inn, but she runs away when the innkeeper mistreats her. A romance develops between Bryant and Kate, even though she is illiterate. They marry, but eventually Kate's ignorance starts to grate on Bryant and he takes up with Diana Nelson, a former sweetheart (Dorothy Green). Diana, as it turns out, is only interested in getting the lead in his new play, so Bryant dumps her and returns to his wife. Meanwhile, Kate has educated herself, and the couple is happily reconciled.
