Synopsis by Nathan Southern

It earned its place in the heart of football fans across America: the 1978 Cotton Bowl between Notre Dame and the University of Texas Longhorns. Undefeated for the entire season, Texas walked onto the field as the top team in the nation, led by Earl Campbell, winner of The Heisman Trophy. Ranked fifth in the country, Notre Dame had spent weeks declining bowl invitation after bowl invitation -- simply for the privilege of squaring off against the Longhorns. All it took was this one victory, in the Cotton Bowl, for Notre Dame to move onto the Super Bowl, where they soon became national champions. That game is now available for collectors in this home release, 1978 Cotton Bowl: Notre Dame vs. Texas -- a release that includes a nine-minute, pre-game broadcast by Don Criqui and an up-close, post-game interview with Notre Dame coach Dan Devine concluding the program.
