Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
This well-known Old Testament story centers around the many hardships suffered by Joseph due to the jealousy of his brothers who sold him into slavery. As the story progresses, Joseph eventually gains the respect of the Pharoah after an unusual turn of events lets him provide the Pharoah with valuable guidance. Later on, Joseph's brothers arrive in Egypt searching for food. Though his true identity is initially disguised, Joseph does choose to finally reveal himself to his brothers after testing their deepest values once more. This is a useful story for explaining to children how important it is to be loyal to others and not relate to them in a jealous fashion.
