Synopsis by Tim DiGravina

Another night, another open mic gig at the local club. Jack (Jack Black) and Kyle (Kyle Gass) perform the epic "Warning" and conduct a brief, failed Q & A session. Club manager Paul F. Tompkins tells the guys about his brother's new club. So the guys jump in their convertible for a road trip, but things go awry when they run out of windshield cleaning fluid, leaving them stranded in the desert. With a pounding sun beating them into submission, they finally see a freaky oasis in the distance: Jesus Ranch. The ranch is home to a strange cult of Circle Church practitioners who harvest and worship their own feces. Just after introductions are concluded, agents from the County Health Department surround the ranch to condemn it. The agents "go psychological" on the cult by blaring goofy rock music. It's up to Tenacious D to strap on their guitars for a "toe-tapping" battle of the bands against the suits. Life on the road turns sweet when the cult elevates the D to the same level as their waste. The experience inspires the song "Jesus Ranch," which wins some fans at open mic night.
