Synopsis by Cara Saposnik
The state of mind which we call "The West" is the topic of this film meditation. Ten Dollar Horse and a Forty Dollar Saddle focuses on Monroe Veach, who was born in 1896 and was, at different times, a cowboy, a saddlemaker and a Wild West Show performer. Filmmaker Bryan Dew uses Monroe Veach's life as a framework through which larger issues of culture and meaning are examined. This is a documentary essay full of humor and honesty.
