Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Although he is presumed dead, French master crook Arsene Lupin (David Powell) is actually living in Vermont under the assumed name of Paul Sernine. A wealthy friend, Henry Forbes (Joseph Herbert), enlists Sernine/Lupin's aid because he believes there is a plot to kill him. A detective is sent to help guard Forbes, and Lupin recognizes him as Alexandre Mazeroux (Riley Hatch), another French crook. In spite of their watchfulness, Forbes is murdered and his wife (Myrtle Steadman) is accused of the crime. Lupin, too, is being carefully watched. But he proves that both he and Mrs. Forbes are innocent, while also winning the love of the Forbes' ward. This film was based on the novel by Maurice LeBlanc, who wrote a series of Arsene Lupin books -- this particular story was one of his lesser mysteries.
