Synopsis by Alice Day
The introduction of a railway system transformed the country, and rapid transport was available for personal travel and commercial uses. This program begins with a review of steam-powered trains, which ushered in an era of railroad travel. In Europe, the Train à Grande Vitesse, or TGV, is the ultimate in train travel, and the smooth integration of its high-speed capabilities with existing railway lines has been a large part of its success. This series presents concepts in technological advances for the understanding of students in elementary to junior high school grades.
