Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Created by Farrukh Dhondy, the multicultural British sitcom Tandoori Nights could just as easily have been retitled "Curry Wars." Saeed Jaffrey was cast as Jimmy Sharma, owner of London's Jewel in the Crown Tandoori Restaurant. Jealous of his lofty status as a caterer to the elite, Jimmy waged an ongoing battle of words and deeds with his hated rival, the owner of the Far Pavillions Restaurant. Broadcast over Britain's Channel 4, Tandoori Nights first aired in 1985, its six half-hour episodes produced by Picture Palace Productions. The series returned for an additional six installments in 1987; these were assembled by Angel Productions.
