First telecast in 1994, the "interactive" British game show Talking Telephone Numbers featured celebrities and guest stars performing variety acts in pursuit of "creating" various numbers. When five such numbers were put together, the viewers at home were invited to call in -- but only if the numbers matched the caller's own phone. After the first round of prizes to the lucky viewers, a randomly selected number was flashed on the screen, whereupon the viewers were permitted to call in their answers to questions relating to that number. The prizes ranged from a low of 10,000 to a high of 25,000 pounds. Talking Telephone Numbers was carried by Britain's ITV until 1997.
