Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

The Widow Jane Mine, in upstate New York's Catskill Mountains, was the location for the making of the experimental music CD, From the Caves of the Iron Mountain. The CD features the work of Steve Gorn on flute, Jerry Marotta on drums, and Tony Levin on bass. The three musicians have incorporated the sounds inside the Widow Jane Mine cave into the recording. Flute, drum, and bass are intertwined with the humming of crickets and dripping of water into a minimalist, mystical vision. This documentary follows the recording process, from rehearsals held in Woodstock to the actual sessions inside the mysterious depths of the mine.
