Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

The recent history of Greece from World War II to the present (1986) is captured in this family drama, which won top prizes (best picture, screenplay, actress, supporting actor, and sound) at the 1987 Thessaloniki Film Festival. In the story, a television director looks for the members of a large family who have been scattered to the four winds by the events of the past half-century. They are to be found in Canada, Athens, Germany, and an inaccessible seaside home. The director tries many times to get them to tell the whole story of their break-up and separation, but it is not until his third encounter with them that the full story comes out. When it does, it is a story full of politics and passion.
