This three part story begins with the resistance of the people of Warsaw when the Nazis round up students taking final exams. The second part takes place during the Cuban missile crisis and the fears of the Polish they will be caught up in a struggle between the United States and Russia. The third segment concerns a man dealing in black market goods who eventually proves himself to be a hero when he places valor about financial gain. The trilogy combines black and white with color photography to tell the tales of invasion in three different time periods.
