Synopsis by Matthew Tobey
The first episode of the first season of Mark Burnett's groundbreaking reality show Survivor finds 16 contestants/castaways split into two tribes and marooned on a desert island off the coast of Borneo. Not only do they have to learn to cooperate and live together, but they'll be forced to compete for rewards and for immunity from being voted off the island. As things kick off, the Pagong tribe quickly learns that B.B. is a bit of a bossy blowhard, despite the fact that he gets things done. Meanwhile, over at Tagi's camp, age seems to be an issue when Rudy and Sonja are both considered for the boot by their tribemates. Watched by 15.5 million viewers, "The Marooning" originally aired on CBS on May 31, 2000.
