Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This independently made states rights feature was "suggested by" the Thomas Moore lyric, "Believe me, if all those endearing young charms." Because Jerry Burke (Robert Adams) is engaged to Mary Manning (Florence Dixon), his father (William Mortimer) disowns him -- he thinks the girl is too low class. James Lacey (Cecil Owen), an unscrupulous financier from America, visits the Mannings in Ireland and decides he wants the beautiful Mary himself. He brings her and her family to the States, where he gets her father (Daniel Kelly) into trouble in order to force Mary to marry him. Jerry has also come to America, and a family friend, Dr. Jennings (Edward Keane), decides to help out. On the day Mary is to wed Lacey, her veil catches fire and the doctor announces that her face is horribly burned. The wedding is called off and Mary returns to Ireland with her mother. Jerry follows shortly afterwards and finds Mary who, it turns out, isn't burned at all -- it was merely a ploy to get away from Lacey, and to make sure that Jerry loved her for herself and not just her beauty.
