Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Another tale of feuding mountaineers, The Stronger Love was no better nor worse than other films of its type. Vivian Martin plays Ness, daughter of the Serviss clan, while Jack Livingston is cast as Rolfe, of the hated Rutherford family. True to form, Ness and Rolfe fall in love, but this time it is the heroine, rather than her ma and pa, who breaks up the romance because of the animosity between the Servisses and the Rutherfords. Director Frank Lloyd, normally a meticulous craftsman, apparently allowed several anachronisms and continuity flaws to slip by unnoticed. As a result, The Stronger Love was given quite a critical drubbing, especially in those big cities where "hillbillies" were considered only half a step above the Gilbraltar Apes.
