Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Step-Mother boasted better story values than usual for a Kalem release. Reversing the cliché, the titular stepmother is actually the nicest person in her household. Alas, the heroine's teenaged stepdaughter resents the presence of this "intruder" and goes out of her way to be disagreeable. But when the daughter nearly makes the mistake of eloping with a cad, it is the stepmother who comes to her rescue. The film was lensed at Kalem's new facilities in Florida, where the studio would continue spending the winter months until its demise in the mid-teens.
