Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
This impressionistic documentary is presented by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Director Manfred Kirchheimer has created a study in motion of the graffiti tattooing New York subway trains, set to the jazz of the legendary Charles Mingus. The program approaches graffiti not as vandalism, but as art, taking viewers along the routes of the subway and elevated tracks.
